BYD the winner, Tesla the loser in great EV sales collapse
It was a rough month for EV sales in April with a collapse in global sales to 566,000 units for the month, a fall of 36% m/m. The weakest region was China, affected by the Shanghai Covid shutdowns but, to be fair, no region performed well. There were some clear winners and losers between models though, particularly in the China market where BYD continued to grow its market share, managing flat monthly sales, while sales for all other brands cratered.
