Why it’s time to look at cobalt
In 2018, when we first started producing Battery Materials Review, cobalt was all the rage. It was the first real flush of the battery event, and everybody was very excited about the rising need for cobalt in batteries and, in particular, for EV batteries. Of course, since then, cobalt has become substantially less popular. NCM111 has transitioned into NCM532, then into NCM811, each with an order of magnitude less cobalt than the generation before.
