Why the nickel industry is stuck between a rock and a hard place
A couple of weeks ago I was asked by a mining company CEO, who is not a battery specialist, how long I thought that the battery event will last. I had no hesitation in telling him that I believed that it was a multi-decade event. “OK,” he replied, visibly reassured but still a bit sceptical, “but what about the potential for evolution in battery chemistry?” And herein lies the issue for the mining industry that perhaps other industries that are associated with the battery event are trying and failing to understand.
