Lithium prices keep falling. Where will it end?

The GFEX lithium price briefly traded below Rmb60,000/t (US$8.3/kg) at the end of May. Prior to the most recent move down, the support level had been closer to Rmb70,000/t (US$9.7/kg). Yet prices keep falling and lithium producers keep producing. So, one imagines, the direction in the near-term if likely to remain down. Until we start to see material amounts of capacity being closed, it’s really difficult to see lithium prices stabilising. And this year we have seen increased production out of Pilgangoora, Grota di Cirilo, Atacama, Kathleen Valley, Mt Holland and Cauchari Olaroz as those projects continue to ramp up,...
