Audi expects future EVs to have shorter ranges
Audi CEO Markus Duesmann has indicated that he expects that the EVs of the future will offer less range. In a statement much-derided by a number of EV commentators he suggests that the trend towards increasing battery size is likely to reverse as charging infrastructure gets denser. I happen to agree with him; I think it’s likely that average battery sizes in power terms will not grow as high as many expect; not just as a result of better charging infrastructure but also as higher raw materials prices drive up battery prices.
