Big increase in LatAm lithium carbonate exports in 2024
Chilean lithium carbonate exports remained elevated in December at 19.5Kt, amounting to 233.7Kt for the year, and up 24% y/y. Argentinean exports were 6.6Kt in December, a little lower than October’s record high of 10.1Kt, but still amounting to 71.5Kt for the year, up nearly 100% y/y. The substantial increase in LatAm lithium carbonate exports was in marked contrast to Australia, where SpodCon exports were up only 12% for the year (in volume terms, and may even have grown by less in lithium terms).
