Canada, Brazil the beneficiaries of US, EU squeamishness on Mining
The news that the US plans to look abroad for raw materials for battery supply chains came as an unwelcome surprise for many US-based raw materials projects, which were expecting to be able to count on Federal support, particularly around planning, which is torturous in some states. While we haven’t seen a similar announcement from the EU, its continuing failure to support accelerated planning for raw materials projects (particularly when Europe is some years ahead of the US in realising it needs to build its own battery value chain) seems to be evidence that it is adopting a similar approach....
