Capital raisings still depressed
There was a big increase in the number of capital raising events in the sector in June, but the amount of funds raised was still depressed at less than US$400m across the upstream sector. By the half year, the cumulative totals for funds raised look extremely low both by sub-sector and on a sector wide basis, and we realistically haven’t seen fundraising conditions like this since 2018. Of course, as we have noted, the drop in fundraising activity in 2018 eventually led to the 2020-22 upcycle, so maybe we just need to stay patient… The drop in activity in Q2/25...
