China battery production up 147% in 2022
China’s battery production rose 147% y/y in 2022, hitting 542GWh, of which 61% of cells were LFP. Globally, 504GWh of cells were installed in EVs. CATL extended its market leadership position, being responsible for 30.2% of all world battery installations in 2022, well ahead of LG Energy Solutions (16.7%) and BYD (14.7%).
