Chinese imports of lithium units roofing
China’s lithium unit imports continued to rise in April, reaching a record level of 32Kt LCE. A tick up in lithium imports from Chile, added to the strong spodumene concentrate imports from Australia are the primary reasons. Destocking over recent months has meant that inventories at smaller spodumene converters are in the red, and with start-ups of large scale converters also due within the next 12-18 months, the lithium inventory situation in China is starting to look serious.
