Chinese power crunch impacts metals markets
China’s continuing measures to target industries that consume a lot of power have led to more widespread disruptions during September. The Government is looking to curb power usage as electricity shortages impact the economy. Measures started in aluminium and zinc, but have since moved to synthetic graphite and stainless steel. Nickel prices have suffered this month as concerns regarding stainless steel production cuts became rife.
