EU to introduce critical minerals legislation
EU President Ursula von der Leyen has laid out the Bloc’s enhanced strategy on critical raw materials, by announcing the European Critical Raw Materials Act. The EU plans to identify strategic projects along the supply chain and build up reserves where supply is at risk. The speech was long on rhetoric and short on details; pretty much in line with EU strategy on battery raw materials so far! The EU has been talking about this issue for more than five years now. The time for doing has long past and is now becoming increasingly urgent.
