Europe continues to lead the way in EVs
European EV sales continued to lead the pack in July with monthly sales up 217%, reaching a second consecutive all-time record. Interestingly it was the Renault Zoe that was the top-performing vehicle with just under 10,000 units sold and it’s that vehicle which is also leading the Tesla Model 3 on a YTD basis, with the VW e-Golf in third place. This highlights the difference in the European market with hatchbacks outperforming larger vehicles. Electric had a 7.2% market share EU-wide in Q2/20 according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, up from 5.2% for the same quarter last year.
