Global EV sales up 56% in 2022
It was a much better year than expected for global EV sales in 2022 which were up 56% for the year. Even though the growth rate was down on the 117% seen in the previous year, sales increased by 3.77m units vs 3.63m units the previous year. BEV’s continued to dominate, representing 73% of all EVs sold, up from 70% in 2021. Global new car EV penetration was 18% on average for the year, up from 12% the previous year, an amazing result. EV new sales penetration exceeded 30% in China and Europe in the last quarter of the year.
