Hectic end to 2020 for financing but more needed
After an extremely quiet start to the year it was a hectic end to 2020 for brokers and corporates alike as over US$2.5bn of funds was raised in the last two months of the year. Nominally the winner was the lithium space which saw US$1.73bn raised during this period, but given that US$1.57bn of this was for the Pilbara/Altura and IGO/Greenbushes deals and neither of those were for expansional capex, if we back those funds out it doesn’t look quite so exciting.
