Is the Australian government increasing Australia’s mining risks?
That’s certainly the opinion of many in the industry after the country’s Labour Federal government interfered in the permitting process for two mining projects, out of the blue. The first action by the government came in July when it blocked Rio Tinto’s ERA subsidiary from being able to renew a 10-year operating lease in the Jabiluka project in the Northern Territory.
