Japan moving toward net import position in lithium-ion batteries

Posted on - 08 Aug 2019

Category - Trade & Demand

Japanese LIB output is down 37% y/y YTD May while net exports are down 31% y/y YTD June. While Japanese companies have invested in capacity offshore, the Koreans and Chinese have stolen a March, leaving Japanese companies to play catch-up.
