Lithium inventories rise
The slowdown in Chinese cathode output which we referred to separately, mixed with higher lithium imports from Chile and Australia in the second quarter, and continued recovery in Chinese lithium carbonate and hydroxide production since the start of the year, led to a substantial build in lithium chemical inventories, particularly hydroxide. This, as much as anything else, was responsible for the collapse in prices seen since mid-June.
