Lithium price collapse petering out?
There are definitely signs that this is the case, with lithium carbonate prices effectively flat over the past month although SpodCon prices are still heading lower. It looks like we’re pretty much up against the marginal cost of production in lithium carbonate, although with a little further to go in SpodCon where there is a range of price points in the market, ranging from US$830/t to US$1000/t on a CFR China basis. Where do prices go from here? Well, if we’re right about the post-New Year China re-stocking event, they could bounce in March/April, but we wouldn’t be chasing that...
