More painful datapoints on mining industry recruitment came out this month. Enrolment in mining, geophysics and engineering undergraduate courses at the Colorado School of Mines fell 35% over the past ten years and in Canada, mining and mineral engineering graduates fell by 30% between 2016-20. Some 80% if mining engineers registered with the UK’s Engineering Council are over 50 with 40% over 60.
