North American stocks rush to redomicile abroad
The trickle of North American stocks with assets outside North America which are looking to redomicile overseas to escape stringent anti-investment rules has become a stream in recent weeks. Following the introduction of fairly draconian investment rules targeted against Chinese investments in Canadian-domiciled companies, the number of companies seeking to change their domicile has increased substantially. Once redomiciled, such companies are then able to partner with or accept investments from Chinese companies, which is currently banned under the newly-introduced Canadian rules.
