Raw materials inventory levels falling in China
It’s great to see that lithium chemical inventory levels have been falling in recent months in China as EV production, cell production and cathode production continues to recover from the low levels seen at the beginning of the year. Lithium carbonate inventories have now fallen to 31 days of supply, having peaked at 65 days of supply in March, and lithium hydroxide inventories remain at depressed levels. We note that lithium carbonate inventories have fallen despite a strong recovery in carbonate production from lepidolite and from recycling (both high-cost sources) since lithium prices troughed in March-April.
