Stellantis warns about EU EV policies
Stellantis has warned that the EU’s strategy to phase out ICEs carries environmental and social risks. In comments to European newspapers, CEO Carlos Tavares noted that there are faster and less-expensive ways to reduce carbon emissions from vehicles. He was referring to PHEVs, although a recent report by EU regulators found that many PHEVs are more polluting that gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles, particularly if they are never charged, which is how some owners use them.
