Tesla switching to LFP for US Model 3s?
According to a number of media reports Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is looking to start utilising LFP batteries for its Standard Range Model 3 cars in the US. This is quite a big deal, in our view. Firstly because Tesla has championed NCA and secondly because it has seemingly been all about range in recent years. LFP has a much smaller range than NCA, although it is cheaper. We’ve been saying for a while that the EV story is becoming increasingly dominated by price rather than range.
