Tesla’s transparent price-cutting “poison” for used car values
Car leaser Ayvens has decried the effects of Tesla’s constant list price cuts on the used EV market. It suggests that prices are holding up much better for manufacturers that handle discounting through dealers rather than centrally. Ayvens manages 3.5m vehicles including 0.5m EVs and notes that Tesla’s centralised price cuts immediately flow through to residual values for used cars, which isn’t the case for other manufacturers.
