Zimbabwe SpodCon shipments down
There has been a significant fall in SpodCon imports to China from Zimbabwe in recent months, with shipments falling 37% against the average 12 month level of shipments in March. Indeed, after accelerating for most of last year, shipments from Zimbabwe have been falling in y/y terms since December. It looks like low lithium prices, rising costs and higher transportation prices are the answer, and it does raise the question as to whether many of the expansions planned for Zimbabwe in coming months and years are going to be viable in current market conditions.
